Roulette: wheels, pockets and bet coverage

Infinity's roulette introduction explains the relationship between the ball's final pocket and bet placement. Single numbers, adjacent groups and colours cover different sets. Identify zero pockets and special rules before interpreting a version.

Wheel essentials

Numbers
The standard numbered pockets run from 1 to 36.
Single zero
The European format adds one 0.
Double zero
The American format includes 0 and 00.
Placement
A chip's position on the layout identifies the numbers covered.

Inside and outside bets

Rule in context

Inside bets use the numbered grid and its borders. A straight up, split or corner covers a specific small set. A small change in chip placement can change the numbers covered.

Outside bets cover larger groups such as colours, odd or even, low or high and dozens. Do not include 0 or 00 in ordinary red/black or odd/even groups. Any special zero rule needs separate attention.

Round sequence

  1. Straight up

A bet on one specified number.

  2. Split

Covers two permitted adjacent numbers on the layout.

  3. Corner

Covers four numbers meeting at a corner.

  4. Outside group

Covers the qualifying numbers in a stated colour or group.

A short terminology reference

  1. Street

    Three numbers in one row.

  2. Line

Six numbers across two adjacent rows.

  3. Dozen

One of the groups 1–12, 13–24 or 25–36.

  4. Column

The twelve numbers in one layout column.

Conventional payout ratios

These are conventional ratios; special or multiplier versions may differ. A 35:1 payout describes profit of 35 times the stake, with the original stake considered separately for total return.

TopicExplanation
Single number35:1, including conventional straight up bets on 0 or 00.
Two numbersA conventional split pays 17:1.
Dozen or columnConventional coverage of twelve numbers pays 2:1.
Red or blackConventionally pays 1:1; zero is outside these groups.

The sequence of a round

These steps explain how a result is read and do not launch a live game.

  1. Identify the version

Identify the number of zeros and any special features.

  2. Understand placement

Identify the pockets covered by a bet.

  3. Betting closes

Once betting closes, the round awaits its result.

  4. Match the final pocket

If the result is covered, apply the relevant settlement rule.

Next outcome

A sequence of previous colours does not guarantee the next result.

Risk limit

Covering additional groups can also increase total stake.

Special version

Matching colours and numbers can still accompany different multiplier or payout rules.

Roulette questions

Are single and double zero identical?

No. Adding 00 changes the number of possible pockets.

Is wheel order the same as the layout?

The layout groups and wheel arrangement differ; read bets by their layout position.

Does zero count as even?

Zero is separate for ordinary odd/even bets.

Does covering more numbers assure profit?

No. Payout, total stake and uncovered results all matter.
